Torrance is a dynamic city with both beach-side and suburban neighborhoods (such as Old Torrance, Walteria, Southwood, West Torrance, Hollywood Riviera) offering a high quality of life. Many residents seek care that is close enough to feel local, yet removed enough to allow for privacy and focus. Here’s why choosing LAMH makes sense for you:
Our Tarzana location is a short drive from Torrance, offering high-quality residential care without being right in your immediate community.
Unlike large institutional settings, our boutique-style program delivers individual attention, deep therapeutic support, and continuity of care.
We provide more than just acute stabilization; we help you build lasting tools, healthy routines, and a recovery-minded lifestyle you can carry back to Torrance.
As someone living in the South Bay, you deserve a provider that understands the local culture, the stressors of commuting, work/life balance, and the value of being back home in a strong community like Torrance.
We offer a full range of treatment programs tailored to the needs of Torrance residents:
We use CBT, mindfulness practices, and holistic therapies to reduce symptoms of sadness and hopelessness while helping restore meaning and connection.
Our trauma-informed care helps clients process and heal from past experiences in a safe, structured setting.
Through a combination of medication management and therapy, we help clients navigate the highs and lows of bipolar disorder.
We apply evidence-based therapeutic modalities to reduce intrusive thoughts and manage compulsive behaviours.
Residents receive specialized care for conditions such as borderline and narcissistic personality disorder through both individual and group therapy.
From panic attacks to generalized anxiety, our team provides customized treatment to reduce worry and improve daily functioning.
Treatment includes behavioural therapy, organization/skills development, and—when needed – medication management to boost focus and structure.
We help clients rebuild healthy sleep routines using CBT-I, lifestyle changes, and supportive therapies.
Long-term support, therapy, case management, and medication oversight are available for those living with schizophrenia and related conditions.
Our residential program delivers 24/7 care in a safe, structured environment for individuals who need intensive support beyond outpatient therapy.

EXCELLENT Based on 24 reviews Posted on Google Lauren JohnsonTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I left this program against medical advice because I no longer felt physically or emotionally safe there. Contrary to what some people may assume, my decision was not impulsive. It came after repeatedly expressing my concerns to staff and feeling like they were ignored. The only positive thing I can genuinely say is that I paid an additional $5,000 for a private room. It became the only place where I felt safe or comfortable. The program director, Anthony W. Hernandez, was the biggest disappointment of my entire experience. Early in my stay, when I wanted to leave, he convinced me to stay by sharing deeply personal stories about his own past. At the time, I thought he genuinely cared. When I later made the decision to leave, his entire attitude changed. During our phone call, he called me “weak” and told me I was giving up on myself. When I asked if I could leave the following morning instead of immediately, he responded, “You can leave NOW.” His tone was hostile, dismissive, and completely lacking the compassion I expected from someone leading a mental health program. The conversation became so upsetting that I added my father to the call because I no longer felt comfortable speaking with him alone. I repeatedly told staff that I did not feel physically safe around certain clients. I expressed these concerns more than once because I was genuinely uncomfortable. I did not feel like my concerns were taken seriously or meaningfully addressed. The house is very small, and there is virtually nowhere to get away from other clients if you need space. The bedrooms are all close together, common areas are crowded, and there was never a single quiet moment during the day. It felt like constant chaos from morning until night. If you’re someone who needs a calm, peaceful environment to heal from trauma, this was not my experience. Although I had a private bedroom, I shared a bathroom that was frequently left with urine and feces on the toilet and shower. It was unsanitary and extremely distressing to deal with in an environment where I was supposed to be focusing on healing. The nursing care was equally frustrating. Within moments of meeting me, the nurse, Amy Malone, insisted my prescribed ADHD medication was causing my elevated heart rate. (It was NOT. It calms me.) I repeatedly explained that my heart rate increases because of severe anxiety. Every single morning, prior to any medication, my heart rate was around 130 beats per minute. As the days went on, I became increasingly anxious about it. I noticed the pulse oximeter was often removed before I could even see my reading. To the point I had to tell them to stop/let me see the reading for myself. I lost 8 pounds being there just for 7 days. They knew I wasn’t eating because of stress. I told them. They saw it. They watched it. On my fourth day, I was required to go on an outing in nearly 100-degree weather despite already feeling extremely anxious. While there, I experienced a severe panic attack. That experience made me feel significantly worse. One policy that made absolutely no sense was the pool. There is a beautiful pool on the property, yet while wearing a modest one-piece swimsuit, I was told I could not lie outside unless I kept my body covered with a towel, even in extreme heat. The daily “group therapy” often consisted largely of sitting in the garage watching YouTube videos. For me, my private bedroom became the only place where I felt any sense of peace because I spent much of my stay avoiding the environment outside of it. People searching for mental health treatment are often in extremely vulnerable situations and deserve accurate, trustworthy information when making such an important decision. Based on my experience, if you decide this facility isn’t the right fit for you, make sure you have a clear discharge plan before telling staff you want to leave. Programs like this tend to prefer clients who won’t question their practices. Educated clients are more likely to recognize red flags.Posted on Google Cesar BarraganTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Excellent. Thank you LA Mental Health <3Posted on Google SANAD HELOTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Felt like home. No judgement. I would do 90 days if I could. I would even add a ad on a commercial for this business. The only downside is the alumni network is not set up yet. However, Rome wasn’t built in a day? But I heard Karen could finish a puzzle in ten minutes. Thank you lamhPosted on Google John HowardTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. The house is gorgeous.
